About

The MapleWiki Quality Control Group (MWQCG) was started on November 5th, 2007 by Conexion in an effort to improve the quality, usability, and design of MapleWiki.

Goals

  • Make the Wiki more accessible
    • Being able to browse easily to find exactly what you're looking is a must when designing quality pages.
    • Being easy to edit when incorrect information is found or new/updated information is available.
    • Consistency in templates and guides
  • Improve the design of each individual page
    • Pages should not only have easy to reach content, but be pleasing to the eye when reading the content
    • Including new templates on longer guides so that it may be divided up into multiple pages for faster loading times.
    • Add customizable tables available in new templates so that people without much experiance can grab a template and organize their data better
  • Clarity
    • Keeping the facts simple and straight.
    • Providing links on items, weapons, etc... with help on how to use each one.
    • Making sure the articles branch out. That all articles have plenty of in sentence links that lead to other articles that may describe a specific point better.

MWQCG Officers

  • A MWQCG Officer...
    • Awards quality pages that meet our guidelines with a seal of approval badge
    • Offers to help others in how to help with this Wiki as well as all aspects of Wiki editing
    • Creates quality articles to help grow the MapleWiki and MapleTip communities
    • Edits articles that already exist to help improve the quality of the page
    • Offers assistance in helping people who are creating articles. This includes reviewing, spell checking, and offering grammar help, among other helpful sugguestions.
    • Monitors image uploads for quality images and if the image doesn't seem up to par, offering to upload a higher quality rendition of the same image. In the case that a low quality image is uploaded that the community as a whole uses, then officers are expected to either revert the image to the higher quality version, or upload their own image that follows the MWQCG standards.
    • Expands the help sections and positively answering questions that are found on discussion pages.
    • Keeps a positive, helpful attitude when addressing others in need of help.
    • Keeps a good image of what a helpful Wiki editor should be.
  • A MWQCG Officer DOESN'T...
    • Automatically take over other people's articles or finish them when the author is actively working on it.
    • Delete important information due to low quality. Moreover, they should help to improve the quality of the information, especially when it is more-or-less public domain.
    • Boss around anyone. This is a large collaboration project and we need help from everyone to make this work well. Be as encouraging as you can, and if someone is breaking rules or acting unethically, don't feed into it. Contact the proper authorities and it will be dealt with.
    • Disturb the peace. Work out fights separately from this Wiki to find resolutions. Any debates regarding an article will be monitored and assessed on it's discussion page.
    • Act superiorly to anyone else. We're all human. We're all equal. Just because you're a part of this group doesn't make you higher than anyone else and if you have that attitude, you will be kicked from the group.
